Read these operating instructions carefully before
using the appliance for the first time and preserve
this maual for later reference. Pass this manual on to
whoever might acquire the appliance at a future
date.
• Arrange for defective power plugs and/or cables
to be replaced at once by qualified technicians
or our Customer Service Department.
• Always remove the plug from the power socket
after use. Simply switching the appliance off is
not sufficient, as the appliance is under power
for as long as the plug is connected to the socket.
ƽTo avoid burns and other injuries:
• Always heat water with the lid closed, otherwise
the automatic cut-out may not function. Boiling
water could then spray out over the rim.
• Hot steam clouds may be released. The boiler
also becomes very hot during operation.
Wear oven mitts.
• Ensure that the appliance is standing securely and
vertically before switching it on. Boiling water
can cause an unstable kettle to fall over.
• This appliance is not intended for use by individuals
(including children) with restricted physical, physio-
logical or intellectual abilities or deficiences in
experience and/or knowledge unless they are
supervised by a person responsible for their safety
or receive from this person instruction in how the
appliance is to be used.

ƽCaution
Always and only use fresh tap water in the water
boiler! Do NOT consume water that is not specifi-
cally designated as drinking water. If you do, there
will be a risk of damage to your health!
• Lift the kettle off of the base when filling it!
• Open the lid by drawing the unlocking button 1
to the rear and, at the same time, lifting the lid up.
• Hold the kettle upright while filling it. Only in this
way can you correctly read the markings
on the scale 4. Fill the kettle...
– at least to the MIN mark, so that the device does
not overheat,
– no higher than the MAX mark, so that no boiling
water spills out.
• First close the lid and then place the kettle onto
the base 3, ensuring that it is is firmly seated on
the base 3.
• Now insert the plug into the mains power socket.
• Press the ON/OFF switch 2 down until it engages
downwards.
• The control lamps integrated into the scale 4
now indicates that the appliance is heating up.
• The appliance switches itself off, and the control
lamps goes out as soon as the water is on the boil.
The ON/OFF switch 2 is released upwards.
• Before taking the appliance into use, ensure that ...
-
the appliance, the plug and the power cable are
in good working order and...
– all packaging materials have been removed from
the device.
• Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking
and let it come to a full boil once – as described
in the next section.
• After it has boiled, pour this water away.
• Rinse the water boiler out with clear water.
• Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking
on the scale 4 and then bring it to the boil.
When done, pour this water away also.

ƽWarning
In the event of scale deposits:
• Before descaling, remove the pourer sieve 5
(see chapter "Removing/replacing the pourer
sieve").
• Obtain any decalcifying agent suitable for kitchen
utensils (e.g. decalcifiers for coffee machines)
from a hardware shop. Proceed as detailed in
the instructions provided for the use of the
decalcfying agent.
First remove the plug from the wall power socket before
you lift the kettle from the base 3. This avoids the
risk that any water splashing out could come into
contact with live electrical connections in the base 3,
which could cause a short circuit.
ƽInjury hazard
For safety reasons, the lid should not be opened
while the water is boiling or is very hot.
There is a risk of receiving severe scalds.
Removing/replacing the pouring sieve
• Open the lid.
• Using the finger depression of the pourer-sieve 5,
draw the pourer sieve 5 forwards and, at the
same time, upwards.
Cleaning and Care
• Remove the pourer sieve 5.
ƽDanger
• Clean the pouring sieve 5 with a lightly moistened
dishcloth and under running water.
Do not open any part of the housing.
There are no user-servicable elements inside.
An open housing can create the risk of a lethal
electrical shock.
• After cleaning it, replace the pourer sieve 5.
Ensure that the clasp at the lower end of the pourer
sieve 5 wraps itself around the peg in the water
boiler. Press the pourer sieve 5 downwards until
it is firmly seated.
Never submerse any parts of the appliance in
water or other liquids! This can create the risk
of a life-threatening electrical shock if residual
liquid comes into contact with powered
components.
Notice
Should the scale deposits in the pourer sieve 5 be
firmly established, lay it in a water-vinegar solution
having a ratio of 6:1 for a few hours. The scale
deposits will dissolve themselves. Rinse the pourer
sieve 5 with lots of clear water.
ƽRisk of personal injuries
Before cleaning the appliance, remove the plug
from the mains power socket and allow the appliance
to cool down.
Storage
• Clean the exterior surfaces and the power cord
with a slighly damp cloth. Be sure to dry the
appliance well before taking it back into use.
• For stainless steel surfaces, you can use appropriate
cleaning agents from a specialized dealer.
• Never use detergents, abrasive cleaners or solvents.
These can damage the appliance.

putting it into storage.
• Wind the power cable around the cable retainer on
the underside of the base 3.
• Store the appliance in a dry place.
