Read the operating instructions carefully before using
the appliance for the first time and preserve this booklet
for later reference. Pass the booklet on to whoever might
acquire the appliance at a future date.

Electric Knife KH 550
Intended use
The electric knife is suitable for cutting various types of
foodstuff. It is intended for domestic use only, not for
commercial applications.
Safety notes ƽ
To avoid potentially fatal electric shocks:
• The rating of the local power supply must tally com-
pletely with the details given on the rating plate of
the appliance.
• NEVER submerse the motor block in water. Wipe it
off with a damp cloth only.
• Arrange for damaged power cables and/or plugs
to be exchanged as soon as possible by a qualified
specialist or the Customer Service .
• Arrange for appliances that do not operate correctly,
or have been damaged, to be inspected and/or repaired
by Customer Service as soon as possible.
• NEVER subject the appliance to rain and do not use
it in wet or moist environments. Take steps to ensure
that the power cable never becomes wet or moist during
use.
To avoid fire risks and burn injuries:
• This appliance is not intended for use by children or
other persons without assistance or supervision if their
physical, sensory or mental capabilities prevent them
from using it safely. Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Caution! Keep children away from the power cable
and the appliance. Children often underestimate the
dangers from electrical appliances.
• Ensure that the power plug can be quickly removed
from the socket in the event of danger and that people
cannot stumble over the power cable.
• Risk of Injury!The blades are very sharp.
Handle them with great care.

The C.O. Time (Continuous Operation) details how long
an appliance may be used without the motor overheating
and being damaged. When the given C.O. Time has been
reached, the appliance must be switched off until the
motor has cooled itself down.

Operation
Inserting the blades
ƽ Important: Hold the blades with the finger protection
grips
only. The blades are very sharp - there is a

risk of personal injury!
1. Select the blade suitable for the task to be done:
• The universal knife blade
with the coarse, short

teeth for cooked meats (without bones), cooked poultry,
bread, cakes, filled bread rolls, fruit (without pips or
stones) and vegetables.
• The freezer-knife blade
with the long teeth for
y
lightly frozen or partly thawed foodstuffs, but not
for fully deep-frozen foodstuffs.
ƽ Important: NEVER try to cut through bones. This
could irreparably damage the appliance.
2. Bring the selected two blades together as shown in
Fig. 1:

ꢀ Notice: NEVER use two different blades at the same
time. Should you do so, the electric knife will not
cut correctly and it could be irreparably damaged.

3. Guide the blade

ƽ Important: Never operate the electric knife for longer
than 15 minutes without a break.
When the 15 minutes of continuous use is reached,
leave the appliance switched off until the motor has
cooled down completely. Otherwise, the appliance
could be irreparably damaged by overheating.

Cleaning
ƽ Important: Before cleaning, ALWAYS remove the
power plug from the wall socket and the blades

from the appliance.
ƽ Important: NEVER submerse the motor block in wa-
ter. Risk of electric shock.
Clean the blades with hot water and detergent.
Afterwards, dry them well.
Wipe the motor unit with a lightly moistened cloth only.
For stubborn soiling, apply some mild detergent to the
cloth.
ƽ Important: Do not use aggressive or chemical cleansers
for cleaning. These can attack the upper surfaces and
permanently damage the appliance.
Disposal
Do not dispose of electrical appliances with
normal household waste.
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal
centre or at your community waste disposal facility.
Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case
of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
Dispose of the packaging materials in an environ-
metally responsible manner.
